What Hexarelin actually does.

The simple version first, then a little more for the curious. No biochem degree required.

The simple version

It hits the same receptor as ghrelin, your hunger and growth hormone signal, telling your pituitary to release a strong burst of growth hormone, which then nudges IGF-1 up.

How it works

Hexarelin is a synthetic GHRP that binds the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the same receptor ghrelin uses. That triggers the pituitary to release a pulse of growth hormone, with a downstream rise in IGF-1. It binds far more tightly than ghrelin itself.

Where it acts

It works at the pituitary to drive the GH pulse, but it also binds the CD36 receptor in heart tissue, which is why animal studies have looked at it for cardiac protection separate from its GH effect. The GH pulse itself acts body-wide.

What people notice

People run it for leaner body composition, recovery, and the appetite bump that comes with the ghrelin pathway. The catch most people report is that the GH response fades within a few weeks of steady use, so it is run in short blocks.

Honest caveat: most of the strength data here is short human GH-response studies and animal work, not long-term outcome trials in healthy adults. The fast desensitization is real and well documented. How to take it.

Hexarelin is an injection, given subcutaneously into fat with a tiny insulin needle. It isn't an oral peptide, so the injectable form is what people run.   1. Reconstitute the vial

    Add bacteriostatic water down the side of the vial (a 5mg vial + 2mL = 2.5mg/mL). Let it dissolve. Swirl gently, don't shake.

  2. Draw your dose

    On a U-100 insulin syringe, pull to your unit mark. 100mcg at 2.5mg/mL is 4 units (0.04mL). Use the calculator if you're unsure.

  3. Pinch and inject

    Swab with alcohol, pinch a bit of fat, insert at 45–90°, push slowly. The belly is simplest. Dose on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food, for the cleanest GH pulse.

  4. Rotate your sites

    Move to a different spot each time so no area gets sore or lumpy. Store the vial in the fridge between doses.

A cycle just means a defined run of time on the peptide, followed by a break. For Hexarelin this is not optional, it is the whole point. The growth hormone secretagogue receptor desensitizes faster with Hexarelin than with any other GHRP, so the GH response can shrink within 2 to 4 weeks of steady use.

Because of that, people run short blocks, commonly 6 to 8 weeks, then take a real break of at least 4 weeks to let the receptor reset. Running it continuously does not give you more growth hormone, it gives you less, as the receptor stops responding.

  • Keep cycles short, roughly 6 to 8 weeks on, which is deliberately shorter than gentler GHRPs like Ipamorelin.
  • Take a real break, at least 4 weeks off, so receptor sensitivity returns to baseline before another run.
  • Do not chase it with more dose when the effect fades mid-cycle. That is the desensitization talking, and a higher dose mostly adds side effects.
