Epitalon

A synthetic copy of a four-amino-acid peptide from the pineal gland, studied for telomere length and the body clock. People run short seasonal courses for longevity, sleep, and circadian rhythm, usually once or twice a year.

What Epitalon actually does.

The simple version first, then a little more for the curious. No biochem degree required.

The simple version

It is studied for switching on telomerase, the enzyme that maintains the protective caps on your DNA, and for nudging the pineal gland back toward a normal melatonin rhythm.

How it works

Epitalon is a synthetic version of Epithalamin, a peptide from the pineal gland. In lab studies it is associated with switching on telomerase, the enzyme that rebuilds telomeres, the protective caps on the ends of chromosomes that shorten as cells divide.

Where it acts

Its signature target is the pineal gland and the body's master clock. It is studied for restoring a more youthful melatonin rhythm, which is part of why people pair it with sleep and circadian-rhythm goals rather than a single body part.

What people notice

Because it is run as short seasonal courses, people most often report better sleep and a sense of feeling rested. The deeper longevity claims build over years and are far harder to feel or verify.

Honest caveat: the telomerase and lifespan findings come almost entirely from one Russian research group, in animals, cell cultures, and small uncontrolled human studies, with very little independent Western replication until recent in vitro work. Treat this as what Epitalon is studied for, not proven longevity in people. It is not an approved medicine and is sold strictly for research use only. None of this is medical advice, talk to a licensed provider before starting anything.

How to take it.

Epitalon is an injection, given subcutaneously into fat with a tiny insulin needle. It clears the blood within minutes, so it is run as a daily course for a short window rather than a single shot. The routine is below; for cycling and timing, see the full guide.

✚ Subcutaneous injection
  1. Reconstitute the vial

Add bacteriostatic water down the side of the vial (a 10mg vial + 2mL = 5mg/mL). Let it dissolve. Swirl gently, don't shake.

  2. Draw your dose

On a U-100 insulin syringe, pull to your unit mark. 5mg at 5mg/mL is 100 units (1mL). Use the calculator if you're unsure.

  3. Pinch and inject

Swab with alcohol, pinch a bit of fat, insert at 45–90°, push slowly. Subcutaneous into the belly is simplest. Many people dose in the evening to line up with the melatonin rhythm.

  4. Rotate your sites

Move to a different spot each day of the course so no area gets sore or lumpy. Store the vial in the fridge between doses.

Where to inject

The easiest spots are the belly (about 2 inches either side of the navel), the love handles, the front of the thigh, and the back of the upper arms. Rotate every injection.

Typical Epitalon dose: about 5 to 10 mg per day for a short course of 10 to 20 consecutive days, repeated maybe two or three times a year. It is run as seasonal courses, not continuously.

How to cycle Epitalon.

How long people run Epitalon, when to take a break, and the honest reasoning behind it.

Typical Epitalon cycle
10–20 day course, 2–3× a year

Short periodic courses, not daily long-term.

A cycle just means a defined run of time on the peptide, followed by a break. For Epitalon the common pattern is a short daily course of 10 to 20 days, then months off, then repeating the course seasonally, rather than running it indefinitely.

Why not just run it forever? Mostly because the long-term human safety data does not exist yet, and because the research itself used short periodic courses. The cautious and widely followed approach is to run a focused course, then stop for several months.

  • Hold the daily schedule through your course, every day for the full 10 to 20 days, ideally at a consistent evening time.
  • Then stop fully for several months. There is no taper; the course simply ends.
  • Repeat seasonally if you choose, two or three times a year. If you have health concerns, that is a conversation for a licensed provider.

What people pair it with.

Epitalon is often run as the telomere piece of a broader longevity protocol. These are the combinations people reach for when healthspan is the goal.

Questions, answered straight.

Is Epitalon legal?

Epitalon isn't an approved drug, and it isn't sold for human use. The vendors we compare offer it strictly for research use only. It is not currently named on WADA's prohibited list, but anti-aging and recovery compounds sit in a gray zone, so competing athletes should check carefully. Rules vary by country, so check what applies where you are.

What does research use only actually mean?

It means the product is sold for laboratory and research purposes, not as a supplement or medicine for people. It hasn't been reviewed or approved for human use by the FDA. We aggregate prices and public lab data so you can see the landscape; what you do with that is between you and a licensed provider.

How do I store it?

Keep the sealed, freeze-dried vial in the fridge or freezer, and out of direct light. Once you mix it with bacteriostatic water, store it refrigerated and use it within a few weeks. Don't freeze a reconstituted vial.

How often do people dose it?

A common pattern is about 5 to 10 mg per day for a short course of 10 to 20 consecutive days, repeated two or three times a year rather than continuously. Many people dose in the evening to line up with melatonin. Use the calculator to turn your vial and dose into exact units.

How strong is the evidence?

Honestly, weaker than the marketing suggests. Most of the telomerase and longevity research comes from a single Russian group, in animals, cell cultures, and small uncontrolled human studies, with little independent replication until recent lab work. Better sleep is the most commonly reported effect; the lifespan claims are not proven in people.
